our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate
our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure
it is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us
we ask ourselves:''who am i to be briljant,
gorgeous talented, fabulous ?''
actually, who are you not to be ?
you are a child of god.
you're playing small doesen't serve the world
there is nothing enlightened about schrinking so
that other people won't feel insecure around you
we are meant to shine as children do
we are born to manifest the glory of god that is within us
it's not just in some of us, it's in everyone
and as we let our light shine, we unconsciously
give other people permission to do the same.
as we're liberated from are own fear
our presence automatically liberates others.

Promo Sheldon Senior
Sheldon Senior is a fresh new dynamic artist on the Reggae Music scene, set for big things in the coming years. Born named Sheldon Anthony Senior, from the parish of St Catherine Jamaica, he started singing from a very early age on his Primary School Choir, where he was the lead singer for the choir. In this fruitful melodious environment of Roots Rock Reggae and Gospel, his musical roots flourished, listening to all the musical forms from Ska to Reggae, R&B, jazz, Old Negro Spiritual and of course Gospel Music. Listening to the different sound systems on his corner of Spanish Town (Railway Lane) and vocals from Beres Hammond, Marcia Griffiths, Bob Marley and others, have cemented his musical conviction to create positive and uplifting music.
He then attended the Christian Secondary High School in Christiana, Manchester where he was the captain of the athletics team in his final year: a member of the school's football team and a member of the schools choir. In 1994 he won the JCDC regional gold medal for Best Male Singer in the Middlesex region of Jamaica. He later went on to represent the parish of Manchester in different national athletics competitions and football competitions. All through this, Sheldon has maintained his dedication to his music by progressing from the sound system to singing in a live band such as the Step by Step Band from Mandeville and has performed with the world renowned Fab 5 Band from Kingston Jamaica. In 1996 he entered the Tasty Talent Contest and won best original song and best dressed artist.
Sheldon has found the time wiles perfecting his musical craft, to gain a BA Degree in Teaching Mathematics, from the Middlesex University in London and a Teaching Diploma in Fashion Designing from the VTD I in Jamaica. He is now residing in England where he is preparing to break into the Reggae Music scene big time. His desire is to become a successful singer/songwriter and producer, eventually touring the world spreading his own brand of reggae, soul and Roots Music. Sheldon has worked with some talented producers and musicians and tours the Open Mic scene extensively, delivering energetic, strong and refreshingly rootsy performances. His soulful, Irie Roots Rock Reggae vibe has been likened to that of Garnett Silk, Beres Hammond and Maxi Priest. His songs are laced with political commentary, a message of redemptions, love and life. Currently, Sheldon is busy promoting his musical talents and is planning to release his debut album, so watch this space!

TAJ WEEKES AND ADOWA
(ALPHAPOCKED RECORDS/JATTA ENTERTAINMENT; TUESDAY,AUGUST 16,2005)

New york, NY-Reggae recording artist Taj Weekes and Adowa will release
their debut album ,Hope and Doubt, on AlphaPocked Records on Tuesday
august 16,2005 produced by Weekes ,engineerd by Joe Blaney (Lauren Hill,
The Clash Prince) and mastered by Alan Silverman (Norah Jones, The Kinks
Chaka Khan)Hope and Doubt is an album of finely-crafted classic roots reggae
with something to say
With Hope and Doubt,New York-based Weekes takes listeners back to the
caribbean of his childhood and here, against an island-beat backdrop he tells
his autobiographical tales,both tragic and hopeful.on MPLA,Weekes offers a
poignant goodbye to his activist older brother, nicknamed MPLA for being
famously vocal about the angolan liberation movement, who was mysteriously
killed after he discovered Rastafari. yet the album never disintegrates into a
mere chronicle of the hard-knock life .the big horns on the upbeat "sad"declare
war on apathy, offering a"brighter song"in place of "another day another
shrug/down in the ghetto ."The danceable "scream out Mellow" is a passive
resistance anthem in disguise, while "mysterious"is a song of faith and hope
Weeke's songs of struggle combine with his pop craftsmanship to bring reggae
back to its roots: music about the people, for the people Hope and Doubt is an
attention-grabbing debut by an artist who's sure to offer his people hope for years

TAJ WEEKES
"CLASSIC ROOTS REGGAE FOR THE CONSCIOUS MIND"
1.jpg)
Rastaman, Preacher man, Island man, poetry man,Reggae recording artist
TAJ WEEKES plays many roles, but chief among them is the role of storyteller.
this singer/songwriter tells tales of poverty, appression, hopelessness and
rejection, counterweighing them each with a message of rastafari faith and
spirituality on his aptly-titled debut cd,Hope and Doubt,Taj sings about life's
tug of war the way only a man of his experience can .
born the youngest of ten children, Taj grew up on the caribbian island of
st lucia he became aware of the disparity between the well-heeled tourist and
the striving locals early on.religion and music were the two main salvations for
the weekes family,st.lucians of Ethiopian descent, and the songs they learned
at church often followed them home "it was like a caribbian von trapp family.
someone was always singing in some corner of the house or entertaining the
rest of us,"explaines weekes.while church music played a big role in Taj's
life ,so did the sounds that emanated from his stereo-everything from the
mighty sparrow to paul simon to nat king cole Taj himself began
singing by age five and started composing his own calyspso music by the time
he was eleven years old .
when his role model and older brother desmond ,nicknamed MPLA,discovered
Rastafari,Taj quickly had his own spiritual awakening. yet by his late teens
Taj found the island's 238 square miles too stifling and grew weary of its
rigid dichotomies he headed for the vast,opportunity-filled north american
mainland to pursue a music career -first to toronto and then to New York
where he found a home.Taj formed a band and named it Adowa,in tribute to his
Ethiopian grandfather and to an 1896 battle in which Ethiopian Emperor menelik
ll thwarted off italian invaders, a milestone in Rastafari history,he has been
cultivating a following in New York City ever since, singing his stories at veneus
such as S.O.B.'s lion's Den,the apollo and Irving Plaza.for more information

YELIZ K. shapes the way of a spiritual journey without frontiers , without dogma , which takes its musical streingth in a never ceasing mixed origin and cross cultural setting .
YELIZ K. ‘s texts mix a lot of langages : English, French, Swahili, Tshiluba, Lingala.... shaping a new Tower of Babel whose basis would be sharing and humility .
Vocals, bass, drums, hammond, to create YELIZ K. ‘s musical universe that is shaped by a quest for its five musicians ...... the search for unity : to model the sonorous material to each time make it become an intense moment .
YELIZ K.’s music is aimed at a wide audience : the idea of a singing who irrigates and pacifies minds, remains the main axis for the band’s creation, and the grounding in links between generations shows through the texts.
A real incitement for respect and peace .
WHY DO WE PLAY MUSIC ?
To share pleasure with our public, of course, but also to pursue causes we are particularly invest in :
The defense of threatened ethnic groups all around the world, that are expelled from their native lands or exterminated in the name of progress . They slowly become extinct in a general indifference , due to the fact they’ve not been heard in time by the rest of the world.
Some associations enlist themselves all over the world to help threatened ethnic groups . We associate our music to their action, to convey a solidarity message supporting oppressed people .
